Yannick Le Duff

Game Design & Level Design

Who I am

My name is Yannick, I come from Gironde and I studied in Lyon to discover the East of France, which I knew very little about. Before starting my studies, I tried my hand at rpg maker mv, which made me realise that being a gamer was as natural to me as being a video game creator.

So I decided to do a bachelor's degree in game design at Brassart. During my studies, I tried out all the possible roles in my course and I didn't dislike any of them. It confirmed that this was the path I wanted to take.

My passion for
the competitive

I was first introduced to the world of Esports with League of Legends in 2014. This aspect of video games changed my way of playing and approaching games. From there, I started joining teams in 2019 as a support and a macro shot caller (The person who announces the strategy to be followed on the global map for the next few minutes).

I didn't participate to any major tournaments but the team experience helped me to improve my group work. Since then, I've continued to watch a lot of games at esports level and I hope one day to be able to develop a game that attracts as much interest.

My hobbies

My favorite sport is tennis, before my studies, I had been playing for 8 years without any pretensions. What I love about this sport is the ability to combine technique and tactics, all supported by sensations and emotions that give me unique moments.

For a few years, I used to cycle every week to refresh my mind and enjoy the many paths in the forest with friends. What I liked most was cycling at night with a headlamp, which was one of my best experiences.

Of all the subjects I studied at school, history is one of them that I still keep up with. I'm especially fascinated by uchronies from post-ancient times.

What attracts me to
video games

I've been immersed in video games all my life. As a result, I've been able to play most genres. First of all, I loved being immersed in worlds with their own rules. Having a logic that was different and more omniscient than reality.

This led me to real-time strategy games (Rts), racing games and role-playing games. The RTS genre is the one that has made the biggest impression on me, whether it's their campaign modes, which blend the player's actions very well with the story. Or, their skirmishes, which introduced me to management and tactics.

The quick thinking and macro strategies are some of my favourite things in the game. Aside from that, I still enjoy the other experiences that video games have to offer.

My favorite games

Many games have left their mark on me during my years as a gamer, but these games in particular have redefined my vision of the game.
